About us
In 1976, within the Pedagogical Institute of Oradea, sub-engineer sections were operating. The day courses lasted until 1986, and the evening courses until 1993. In 1976-1989, the name of the Pedagogical Institute changed successively in the Institute of Higher Studies and then in the Oradea Institute of Sub-Engineers.
After the revolution of 1989, the Romanian higher education returned to the Romanian tradition correlated with the western system. Thus, in 1990, through H.G. no. 460 / 02.05.1990, the Technical University of Oradea is set up, within which was set up the Faculty of Environmental Protection, among which specializations worked starting with 1993 Cadastre - Geodesy profile, as well as Health Engineering and Environmental Protection - Construction profile, as it results from OM no. 4685 / 07.04.1993. The establishment of the Cadastre specialization - Geodesy profile - predates H.G.R. no. 569/1995, regarding the program of the academic evaluation process (approved in the meeting of C.N.E.A.A. dated 09.10.1995).
By establishing the specialties "Architecture" (1994) and "Civil, Industrial and Agricultural Constructions" (2003), in addition to the two existing ones - Cadastre and Sanitary Engineering and Environmental Protection, the creation of the Faculty of Architecture and Construction in 2002 became imminent. The Faculty of Architecture and Construction, established by H.G. 410 / May 2002, by detachment from the Faculty of Environmental Protection, began its activity in the academic year 2002 - 2003, within it working in the profile of Constructions specializations Sanitary Engineering and Environmental Protection - accredited from 2002 and Civil and Industrial and Agricultural Constructions - authorized provisional - 2003.
Starting with the academic year 2003-2004, the Faculty of Architecture and Constructions included the specialties Cadastre, Architecture, Sanitary Engineering and Environmental Protection and Civil Industrial and Agricultural Constructions, all in the form of “day” education. This initiative stemmed from the alignment of the Romanian higher education with the European and world education. Starting from the need to modernize the Romanian education and taking into account the experience from other countries, within the Faculties of Architecture and Constructions, from the beginning the department of Cadastre was functioning, subsequently becoming the Department of Cadastre and Architecture (2011) - organizer of the engineering field. geodesics: Ground and Cadastre Measurements - comprising an increasing number of young and competent teachers. The members of the department collaborate closely with the members of other departments, from the faculty and the university, as well as with teachers from the prestigious universities in the country.
Starting with the academic year 2005-2006, based on the Bologna agreement, the transition to a structured education on three levels (bachelor's, master's and doctoral) is made, the program of studies in the field of geodetic engineering, Earth measurements and Cadastre having a cycle duration 4-year education (8 semesters). The details of this study program are detailed in chapter 3 of this self-assessment report.
The Faculty of Architecture and Construction, renamed in 2015 as the Faculty of Construction, Cadastre and Architecture, is a faculty with 4 related study programs, with high demand on the labor market. Considering that the number of investors in the area is constantly increasing, that a very large number of projects are being drawn up, attracting EU funds, at the same time, given the specificity of the training areas, in accordance with the socio-economic needs of the western area, in particular, by the available material base, by the number of existing teachers, as well as by the number of students who have opted for these training programs; the existence of these study programs represents viable and prospective options for young high school graduates. Currently, within the faculty is a master's program accredited in the field of Civil Engineering and Installations lasting 2 years called "Intelligent and Sustainable Constructions".
         Areas and programs of studies
FACULTY OF CONSTRUCTIONS, CADASTRU AND ARCHITECTURE train specialists, through accredited study programs for the two cycles of higher education, bachelor's and master's degree, in the following fields:

Sanitary Engineering and Environmental Protection

Sanitary Engineering and Environmental Protection specializations have as a main objective the training of specialists with high qualifications in design, implementation and exploitation of constructions and equipment adherent to water supply systems and sewerage in villages (hydro utility constructions), with the purpose of protecting the environment from pollution. By its nature, the specialization lies between two other Civil Engineering fields: Civil, Industrial and Agricultural Constructions; Urban Engineering and Regional Development; Hydro technical Constructions. The students also study subjects form Environmental Protection, so the specialization is related to Environmental Engineering specialization.
Considering the diversity of specializations in which the students are trained, they have more chances of getting a job. In this way, the Sanitary Engineering and Environmental Protection graduates will be able to satisfy the increasing number of specialists needed in hydro utility constructions of specialized institutions: prefectures, town halls, communal husbandry administration, environmental protection agencies, public hygiene within the sanitary Police, etc. At the same time, achieving the organizational and managerial skills in constructions and the technology in the completion of works, in general, is also an opportunity to achieve other types of constructions.
    Type of studies: 4 years / full-time.

Cadastral Survey

The Cadastral Survey specialization within our faculty represents a specialization whose graduates will easily find a job, the demand for specialists in survey is big and the existence of this profile is totally justified. After December 1989, a fundamental change has been done in the political juridical organization of our society. On the basis of the Romanian Constitution in 1991 it has reverted to the juridical system of circulation of lands on the principles of freedom based on mutual consent stipulated by contract.
The educational programmer of this specialization is of 4 years, full-time, surveying engineers. The profile has been accredited since 2001. As a result of the elaboration of the “Survey Law” in 1996 there is a constant need for specialists in Survey, Geodesy and Topography.
Type of studies: 4 years, full-time.

Civil, Industrial and Agricultural Constructions

The diversity of the Romanian education, the social-economical needs of our country, the options of the high school graduates and the financial situation available, justify the founding of a new specialization within the Civil Engineering specialty, that is Civil, Industrial and Agricultural Engineering.
Education for this specialization is mainly financed by the state budget and also by education taxes.
For the good development of this specialization rooms and equipment of the University of Oradea are used as well as the offices of some economical agents of Oradea (with whom we have collaboration convections).
The graduates of Civil Engineering specialization are trained as specialized engineers mainly in planning and implementing the constructions as a necessary premise for assuring safety in exploitation and a level of quality updated for the demands of our days regarding the aspect of abiding the legal precautions and also of the preferences of the beneficiaries.
By the content of the educational system, the graduates are trained in two main directions: the resistance’s calculus of the structures and the implementation of the construction works. At the same time the future graduates are trained in a series of complementary fields such as: management, economics, legislation in the field, computer’s usage, etc, therefore we create the premises of a flexible training with favorable results regarding the labor market’s demands.
    Type of studies; 4 years/ full-time.

    Architecture

The constant need for specialists in architecture and urbanism is motivated by the rate the constructions are being built in this part of the country. The remarkable architectural and town-planning framework of the cities and towns in the north-west of Transylvania, as well as the perspectives of the development of this city just like a real metropolis, tell us a lot about the necessity of the Architecture specialization. Education for this specialization is mainly financed by the state budget and education taxes.
For the good development of this specialization rooms and equipment of the University of Oradea are used. We also collaborate with the Town hall of Oradea for the students’ practice and for the elaboration of some rises, studies and even projects.
The graduates of Architecture are trained as architects ready to develop a complex design activity: studies and architecture projects, urbanism, interior decorations, furniture, restorations, etc.
The content of the analytical planning and the activities at the drawing board in classes and the students’ practice train the graduates so that they could face the complexity of design problems that might come up once they have become architects.
We wish at the same time together with the insurance of an excellent training for the students, the highlighting of their talent and craftsmanship so each graduate could become a real professional architect. In this way we wish to build up a real school of architecture in Oradea, with a well-marked character.
    Type of studies: 6 years / full-time.
